Professional Experience
John Mellen is a litigation attorney with 35 years of trial experience. After working for eight years as a prosecutor in Chicago, he moved to Washington, where he has focused on commercial litigation and bankruptcy for the past 27 years. He has frequently represented dentists in disputes arising out the business side of their practices, and in complaints brought by DQAC. The business disputes have involved misrepresentation claims in practice sales, non-competes, obligations owed to banks and other lenders, landlord-tenant issues, insurance, equipment leases, personal guaranties, employee fraud, investments, and numerous other issues. These are the same type of issues that arise in John's representation of his other clients. As a result, when John is representing dentists, he is able to rely on his broad experience in handling the types of issues that dentists often face, in addition to his experience in dealing with these issues as they arise in the context of a dental practice.
